Creating a Wiki Blog-11

 Working on Wiki’s showed me another side of how technology can be a helpful tool to increase my knowledge. One of the best things about Wiki is the option to go back and edit any information and giving the option for others to do the same. This can be very helpful when working in a team to create a project. This individual can just log in any time to make adjustment without having to be in the same place at the same time. Another aspect of this tool is the option to add a YouTube video to the main page where people can just press play vs. clicking on URL address. I think this is the best way to get people to view a video that you intend for them to watch.  

Instapaper Blog-10

There is a lot to learn about Instapaper, there are a lot of useful tools in this program that can help people save time when searching for articles. Normally in order to save on article to Instapaper all you need to do is copy the URL to the “add link” on top right corner. Today I learned that instapaper provides the users with an email that allows them to send article to themselves. I also want to add that this great tool allows the user to share any article through Twitter or Facebook. Instapaper also give user the option to upload the app to most smartphones and stay connected anytime anywhere.

PLN Blog-9

Some topics happening in my PLN includes new trend in technology and discussions on new trend happening in HR. I think staying connected to new trends is the best way to keep up with new technology and new ideas. For example this week I found out that from TNW (The Next Web) that Amazon is introducing their first smartphone. There are also good discussions about how HRD impacts people and companies.   

I am currently connected to one company, forty-two people and I am connected to three organizations. From these results I am connected to more people than I am to companies or organizations. I think the reason to this is that I have being more successful at connecting with people from this class who share the same interest. I know that if I increase the companies and organizations to my PLN, I can also increase my social learning. This is a good way to connect to professionals who share my same interest.

Instapaper Blog-8

The great thing of Instapaper is the options to save article and read later. This tool comes very handy for example, people who are very busy with a full time job and also attending school. These individuals can take advantage of this tool when searching for article for school assignments, job project or personal entertainment. With a busy schedule people can do research during a fifteen minute break and save this article to read when there is more time.

 Some of the nice features about Instapaper are the option that allows the user to highlight part of an article instead of saving the whole article. Another great feature is the option to save videos to watch later.  Instapaper can be access from Web browsers like Safari, Chrome and Firefox. Instapaper also offers the option to view daily trends happening with Instapaper Daily.  The only downside I found is that there is a monthly charge to get a full access and there is other similar websites with similar options.  

Education and Technology Blog-7

I have done some research on how technology effects today kids’ education. Educations is consider one of the most important tool to reach any career goal. Before the use of computers educations was conducted by the use on lectures inside the classroom and a textbook. Now technology has giving us the opportunity to get on educations from any place that has a way to connect to technology.  I learned that we don’t have to be in a classroom in order to get an education. I also learned that today’s learning is being thought by social media and consist about sharing information.

I read on article that explains how a test done on kids compares the learning from kids that received learning by older methods and the kids who used technology.  According to this article kids who used technology have developed a higher literacy. I think the article gives us a better understanding on technology is impacting in kids learning.

After doing a lot of searching for a group on LinkedIn, I was able to find Workforce.com . This group matches what I think will help me stay completive and achieve my future career goals. The group is about new trends in the workplace, Human Resources, new technology, diversity plus a few more. I also notice some members posting comments about new job opportunities within their organization and some suggestions. Some members also post comments on how to stay healthy if you sit for most of your work.  This is the site for anyone who is interested to take a look on this group.

Twitter

Looking for a person on Twitter that will offer some type of benefit to my personal career was not easy.  I was looking for someone who will offer inspiration by their life accomplishments. That’s how I found Oprah Winfrey https://twitter.com/Oprah,  she is a person who has being through a lot of struggles as a young person, but was able to overcome those obstacles. Now she is one of the most influential people in the US and a very successful in television and business owner.  Two people that I found under Oprah Winfrey are Maya Angelou https://twitter.com/DrMayaAngelou and Kevin Hart https://twitter.com/KevinHart4real . I think Oprah Winfrey follows this two individuals because they inspiration and have work very hard for their work. For example, Maya Angelou Twitter account shows how she is on educator, historian, poet, civil-rights activist, best-selling author, actress, producer and director. The reason I choose Kevin Hart is because he is a great comedian and has work very hard to get where he is at. As far as Maya Angelou, I learned that she has help shape history throughout her live accomplishments.

This week I am exploring the world of Instapaper. After reading different technological tool Instapaper was the tool that I wanted to explore a little dipper. The sing up process is not difficult, just go to www.instapaper.com, click create account and sing up using your email. What makes Instapper a great tool is that allows users to save articles that you like but normally don’t have the time to read. Once the article is saved, it is easy to view and read anywhere and anytime. Instapaper allow the user to share, delete, save or like, also gives the option to post article directly to social media like Facebook or Twitter.

Instapaper will be a great tool for improving my learning experience on this class and personal life. Having the option to save article will give me an advantage when I am searching for information that relate to my class assignments. This will give me the opportunity to read this article when I have the extra time.  During my learning about Instapaper I found out that there is other tools similar to Instapaper. I think it will be important for me to find out more about the differences between Instapper and the competition.
