Personal Experience with Twitter-Blog 4



On this blog I would like to share my experience about Twitter, before taking this class the only accounts I was sign up for were emails and Facebook.  I never felt the need to sign up for other accounts like Twitter or a blog. The only comments I would hear about Twitter was about people posting their thoughts throughout the day. Since the start of this class, I learned that Twitter is also a great way to stay up to date on current issues around the world. It can also connect me with people who share the same interest.  

From now on I will be using Twitter as a source of learning from others students. I will also be posting information that may add value to those who follow me on Twitter.  I think this account will not only benefit me during this course but also in my professional career goals. I think having the access to connect with anyone in the world will help increase my knowledge by learning from other ideas. I think this is going to be important, especially when it come from different cultures.  Although I still struggle with all this new technology, I know I can make good use of these tools.

My Career Goal-Blog 2


One of the organizations that caught my attention is TRIO. This organization is funded by the federal government to help students with low income, first generation students, and students with disabilities. This organization was funded by the government as a way to improve student’s lives by giving them the opportunity to get a higher education. One of the benefits this organization will provide me with, is the ability to be part of the life of students who will get a chance to get a higher education. Part of my career goals are to help individuals push themselves reach their own career goals. Becoming a member of TRIO will give me the extra tool to reach out to students who are not aware of all the programs that will help them earn a degree. I am also hopeful to earn the knowledge to contribute ideas to this organization. Over all this is a great organization that has being helping student with low income better their lives.  

Professional Career Goal-Blog 3


I tried Feedly, Digg and InoReader to look up different blogs that relate to training/development and communication. On Feedly it will bring related blogs but nothing that got my attention. Then I found the two blogs under google search. I think google search brings up more options to the blogs that I was searching for. In order to increase my knowledge I need to familiarize myself with more search methods. After searching different blogs I found two blogs that will help reach my career goals.
The first blog “Millennials A Matter of National Interest” by Jack Shaw, which explains how Millennial will affect the work place. This blog tell us that many millennial feel like they don’t fit in and feel unprepared to take big roles in organizations. This blog also gives examples on how to understand and help this generation fit into the rest of the workforce. I find this blog to be important in my career goals by helping understand my own generation. With the new generation of millennial joining the work force it’s important for everyone to understand how to motivate them and develop their skills.

The second blog I found is “10 Tips to improve Workplace Communication” by Mark Craemer, this bog talk about the steps to follow in order to become a good communicator in the workplace. One tip that I found interesting is the importance to having Face to Face communication, with all the new technology it is becoming more common to communicate by email. I think some information needs to be communicated in person for example bad news or big changes in a company. This allows for the communicator to answer questions and able to explain the reason to the change. This information will become important in my career goals to help me become a good communicator with other employees. I think having good communication is important to be successful at any job.

Blog 1


·         What has been your experience with technology and learning?  

When it comes to technology I don’t consider myself to be an expert, I understand and learn anything that is need it to complete a job or assignment. I think my biggest problem when it come to new technology is that I wait until I need to use it and don’t try to stay ahead. With new technology I need to be open minded and try to find the advantage and disadvantage of any new technology and think of ways I can use this tool to my advantage.

·         Has technology helped or hindered your learning?  

Technology has help me made learning more accessible in different ways. New technology is currently helping me attend school online without the need to move out of towns. Without this technology I would not be able to attend school keep a fulltime job and make time for family, technology help me and my school stay flexible. Is also helping stay connected with friends and family who live out of state and learning new technology will help increase my school and work performance. Overall technology is a tool that I need to use to help increase my knowledge.     

Tell a story from your life where learning and technology intersected.

At my current job about three years ago our CEO and top management leaders decided to take our store to the next level in technology. They started by having everyone in the store set up on account name connection where all employees at all stores in the US can connect, post questions, answer questions, and share ideas. The whole process was difficult at first especially when trying to get employees who don’t feel convertible with technology. It took a lot of one on one training and follow up until everyone got convertible enough to use this tool. Now still is difficult for some new employees but for the most part everyone has found a benefit to this amazing tool. I think my job experience relates a lot to social learning described in chapter 1, management wants to increase work performance by adding a tool for all employees to use nation wise. This tool help all employees share ideas and learned from others ideas to increase their knowledge.
