Professional Career Goal-Blog 3

I tried Feedly, Digg and InoReader to look up different blogs that relate to training/development and communication. On Feedly it will bring related blogs but nothing that got my attention. Then I found the two blogs under google search. I think google search brings up more options to the blogs that I was searching for. In order to increase my knowledge I need to familiarize myself with more search methods. After searching different blogs I found two blogs that will help reach my career goals.
The first blog “Millennials A Matter of National Interest” by Jack Shaw, which explains how Millennial will affect the work place. This blog tell us that many millennial feel like they don’t fit in and feel unprepared to take big roles in organizations. This blog also gives examples on how to understand and help this generation fit into the rest of the workforce. I find this blog to be important in my career goals by helping understand my own generation. With the new generation of millennial joining the work force it’s important for everyone to understand how to motivate them and develop their skills.

The second blog I found is “10 Tips to improve Workplace Communication” by Mark Craemer, this bog talk about the steps to follow in order to become a good communicator in the workplace. One tip that I found interesting is the importance to having Face to Face communication, with all the new technology it is becoming more common to communicate by email. I think some information needs to be communicated in person for example bad news or big changes in a company. This allows for the communicator to answer questions and able to explain the reason to the change. This information will become important in my career goals to help me become a good communicator with other employees. I think having good communication is important to be successful at any job.

  1. I think looking for blogs to add using different sites was a good idea! I followed your link to Feedly, and I think it would be a good tool to become familiar with.

I think the first blog you chose to follow would be a good one for the 'older generation' to become familiar with because the attitudes of the Millennial generation is very different from the Baby Boomer generation.

I found your comments on the communication blog to be very interesting since I can remember when email was introduced as a way of communication in a former workplace! It was really nifty how you could have everything written out and you didn't have to rely on taking notes during a phone conversation! Face to face conversation does have it's advantages since you cannot hear voice inflection or read body language in an email.

  2. May I suggest including the Decker Blog in your PLN. This blog seems to have a lot of great tips about communication. The first thing I read was about telling a story because it relates to the subject and people and envision what you are trying to portray. It seemed like a great blog to read. I agree with you that good communication is vital for a job. Any job for that matter. It is important in a relationship, school and work. I think that following communication blogs is a great idea and I might just have to do that as well! Here is a link to the Decker Blog:
